Reach & impact

Âą3 min read, updated on 5/15/25

We were hard to miss in the national and international media. To further raise awareness of what we stand for, we spoke at universities and meetings. In 2024 we reached millions of people through our own communication channels. Zooming in on specific topics, we wrote over 100 blogs to keep people informed of the latest developments.

Events & campaigns

What we found to be the most impactful events and campaigns in 2024? First, we are proud of the Stay Loud campaign🔗Read the Stay Loud campaign highlight, in which we called on users of social media platforms to take advantage of their new rules and opportunities to better protect yourself online from the power of Big Tech. In addition, we look back fondly at the Big Brother Awards🔗Read the Big Brother Awards highlight, the annual event in which we call attention to the biggest violators of our digital rights. It didn’t stop there: we also celebrated our 25th anniversary with an awareness campaign about the successes from the past 25 years as well as a live debate about the future of our digital rights. These were not the only events we organized. During the Tech & Society Summit🔗Read the Tech & Society Summit highlight, we brought together activists and new policy makers to come up with policies that promote everyone’s digital rights.

Partnerships

Many partnerships were formed in 2024. We collaborated with Public Interest Litigation Project to take legal action against digital wrongs, and joined forces with Amnesty International Nederland, Open State Foundation, PublicSpaces, SETUP and Waag for lobbying purposes in The Hague. In Brussels we established close working relationships within the umbrella organization European Digital Rights (EDRi). We look forward to continuing these partnerships in the coming year.
